Tesla is being replaced as the EV charging provider on the New Jersey Turnpike, and the company is pushing back.
The Turnpike Authority said it is moving forward with Applegreen after its deal with Tesla expired. Officials said the agreement was made years ago.
Tesla argued there's room for both companies and said it offered to share space, upgrade equipment, and invest more money.
EV drivers are caught in the middle. Some are skeptical of the new universal chargers, saying they charge slower than Tesla's.
The new chargers will be installed at all 21 Turnpike service areas and will work with all EV makes and models.
Tesla said it is building more than 100 charging stalls off the Turnpike.
