Tent and makeshift pallet structure catch fire in City of Newburgh; one person hurt
Police say one person was injured early Valentine’s Day morning when a tent and a makeshift wooden structure made out of pallets caught fire in the City of Newburgh.
Officials tell News 12 the fire broke out around 5 a.m. in the woods behind the Dunkin’ on South Robinson Avenue.
The area was described to News 12 by a tipster as a place where people may have been staying.
When News 12 went to the scene, a small foot path could be seen leading into the woods. What appeared to be the remains of a mattress, a couch, wooden pallets and children’s bikes were visible in the area.

The fire is believed to be accidental. No other injuries were reported.
