There is a Flood Watch is effect for parts of NJ ahead of this afternoon and evening rain where some flooding can be possible. Moderate to heavy rain can form along a pair of fronts that pass today, including thunderstorms later in the day that have the potential to crate damaging winds.
There is a threat for damaging wind in the strongest thunderstorms. This includes a tornado risk as well. Storms are expected to be scattered, but some will repeat over the same area which is where the flood threat is elevated. Rainfall totals can be in excess of 2" in locations that see repeated heavy rain.
Tomorrow's weather remains unsettled and mostly cloudy with periods of light showers throughout the day. There will be some thunderstorms in the afternoon, but not everywhere. Conditions improve near sunset, and the weather clears out for the midweek with sunshine for Wednesday and Thursday.
