Teens from across the city spent their break learning tech and engineering skills through their internship with the Brooklyn Public Library.

This year the library partnered with National Grid for a final project competition focusing on Black History month and Engineering week.

“It could be about sustainability, it could be a black engineer and the history of that person and what they created and the different challenges they had," said Jackson Gomes, the Young Adult Internship coordinator at Brooklyn Public Library.

The kids ages 14 to 18 years old used the skills they acquired during the week to create animation characters and video game designs.

"It’s definitely a lot of fun to be able to merge both the creative side and the innovative and challenging aspects of stem and create something a lot more creative and crazy and fun," said Francine, a high school senior.
