A 16-year-old boy is now under arrest in connection to a deadly shooting that shook a Fort Greene community.
Police say the teen was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and is facing charges of murder, criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of a firearm.
According to police,
the shooting happened just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, inside the Whitman Houses.
Officers responding to a 911 call found 43-year-old Jamel Davis with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he later died.
A police source tells News 12 the shooting happened after a dispute between the teen and Davis, and that the two knew each other.
Neighbors say Davis was well known in the area — an artist who loved music and spent time with friends in the neighborhood.
