A 17-year-old student is accused of carrying a gun inside Sheepshead Bay High School, the NYPD says.
The teen was attending sports practice at the time of the incident and ran away before police arrived. It happened just before 3 p.m. Friday inside 3000 Ave. X.
Police say the school found the firearm inside his backpack after he went through a scanner.
No one was hurt, according to the NYPD.
The 17-year-old has not been located as of Friday evening.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Education for a statement and is awaiting a response.
