Demonstrators gathered at the Target store in Mount Vernon this weekend to protest the retailer's decision to abandon its three-year diversity, equity, and inclusion program.
The boycott call follows Target's move to drop DEI initiatives, aligning with other major retailers stepping away from such programs.
Ronnie Lichtman of Neighbors Who Care said, "We don't want Target to go out of business, we want them to reinstate their DEI policies. We hope that boycotts speak to them."
The shift comes amid the Trump administration's plans to investigate what it calls "illegal DEI" at corporations.
