A teenager inside a Norwalk apartment building narrowly escaped after an SUV slammed into the structure on North Taylor Avenue.

The Norwalk Fire Department says the driver left the roadway, went over a stone wall, and then crashed into the building just after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The driver was taken to the hospital with a minor injury and no other injuries were reported.

The impact left one apartment deemed unsafe for occupancy by the city building department. The four residents of that unit are being helped by the American Red Cross as they arrange temporary housing.
