Suspect arrested in armed robbery of New York Jets player
Authorities said a Paterson man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Morristown last year involving an unidentified New York Jets player.
Police said the robbery occurred about 8 a.m. Feb. 15, 2025, after the victim returned from New York City. Authorities say the victim was blocked into a driveway by a Volkswagen SUV with fictitious license plates.
They say four armed men wearing masks exited the vehicle and pointed guns at the victim and his driver. The suspects took the victim’s watch and wallet and stole cash from the driver before fleeing.
Authorities say investigators later identified 26-year-old Noah Shaffer as a participant through electronic evidence.
Shaffer is being held at the Bergen County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges. On Monday, he was ordered detained there on the Morris County charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Officials are asking anyone with information about the case to call the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 973-285-6200.
