SUNY trustees have formally voted against Nassau Community College's presidential nominee.
Maria Conzatti is the college's chief administrative officer and has been serving as interim president since May 2022.
A SUNY official said this was the first time the trustees formally rejected a presidential nominee.
The decision comes amid a teacher's union lawsuit which claims recent cuts have negatively impacted several academic departments.
NCC says it is disappointed in what it calls the board's arbitrary decision.
Conzatti will continue to serve as chief administrative officer.
