Major warmup begins in Brooklyn on Election Day

After a chilly and windy weekend, 70s and 80s make a return midweek with records in jeopardy.

OVERNIGHT: A major pattern change commences tonight as much warmer weather arrives from the south. Similar to last week, there is a chance at 80-degree warmth by Wednesday with an almost identical weather pattern.
TUESDAY (ELECTION DAY): With the warmer weather arriving at night, there can be some patchy fog forming between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., especially along the coast. Watch out for some reduced visibility. Temperatures remain steady between 55 and 57 degrees instead of falling. Once the fog goes away, there will be more sunshine than Monday. That will only help the warmup as highs will soar into the 70s, as high as 75 degrees across parts of the borough. Grab an extra layer for the morning commute or heading to the polls early, otherwise t-shirts or a light sweater is good for the afternoon.
WEDNESDAY: Record warmth arrives Wednesday. The forecast high is 80 degrees, which would shatter the current record of 75 degrees set back in 2022. This warmth is short-lived, again, as a cold front passes Wednesday night.
THURSDAY: Back to the upper 60s to near-70 degrees on Thursday. It will remain rain-free through at least next Sunday, where the path of now-Tropical Storm Rafael could potentially impact us with its remnants early next week.
