The Hope for the Future Ministries in Farmingdale needs help to keep its doors open to provide food to those who need it most.
Pastor Diane Dunne started the Farmingdale nonprofit 36 years ago.
Every Thursday, volunteers provide hundreds of Long Islanders and those in New York City with a hot meal, fresh produce, milk, eggs, frozen food and so much more.
Volunteers, like Dawn Mattina, say they need help from the community to keep their mission alive.
A fundraiser called "A Night At The Races" will be held on April 12 at the American Legion on Veterans Boulevard.
"I'd like to believe that people genuinely have a good heart and they want to help and this is a way to get the message out so they know where they can help,” she said.
Mattina says they’re also looking for volunteers.
