The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office held an event in Brentwood Saturday aimed at answering questions for loved ones of missing people.
Officials heard stories from attendees about their loved ones who are missing and hope to use the information gathered to hopefully close some of these open cases.
“Tell their stories to provide material for us to compare to existing unidentified human remains that we have at the medical examiner’s office, inquiries about missing persons coming into our office," said Odette Hall, the Suffolk County chief medical examiner.
Suffolk officials also spoke at the event about forensics and DNA evidence.
Attendees were given the chance to provide samples of their own DNA to potentially identify remains at the medical examiner’s office.
According to officials, there are 32 current unidentified human remains profiles and 12 missing person profiles.
