A new study says weight loss drugs can have a two-for-one benefit for certain teens.
The drugs can help lower the severity of attacks for teens struggling with obesity-related asthma, according to researchers.
While losing weight can help improve the effects of asthma, a doctor with Northwell Health tells News 12 making healthy lifestyle choices is still the best way to go.
"You can take a medicine that makes you less hungry and eat less, but if all you're eating less of is ice cream and Cheetos, then you're not healthier even if you weigh less," Dr. Katzow says.
It's too early to tell if weight loss drugs should be FDA approved to treat asthma.
