It was nearly 50 degrees Monday afternoon, just hours after parts of the borough got up to an inch of snowfall. This weather whiplash will only continue for the foreseeable future as a stormy pattern begins to take shape, with several storm chances looming over the next ten days.
TUESDAY: Before the next storm reaches the borough, the temperatures take another nosedive Tuesday afternoon and night, from the mid-40s to the mid-20s. With breezy conditions all day Tuesday, it will once again feel like the teens out the door Wednesday morning.
WEDNESDAY: Wednesday itself is the cold calm before the storm with cloudy and freezing conditions, with high temperatures struggling to reach 30. As Thursday's storm approaches, it will displace the cold with warmer air. As it does so, the hazardous wintry mix is possible, from snow to ice to rain through Thursday morning.
WINTRY MIX: Early projections are that snow showers will arrive across the borough before the morning commute during the wee hours of Thursday morning. During the commute, a switch from snow to sleet and freezing rain is likely. By midday, it will likely be plain rain with temperatures soaring into the 40s. The timing of each of these precipitation types are subject to change with any subtle shifts to the track and timing impacting what the borough sees. You will want to stay tuned not only for this storm, but for the next several storms that loom afterward. A similar setup with a wintry mix is possible Saturday into early Sunday, and a snowier setup is possible by next Tuesday night or Wednesday.
