A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Hudson, Morris, Somerset and Union counties until 4 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Warren, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties in New Jersey through 9 p.m.
There is a heat advisory in effect for Mercer County and points south along the Delaware River for hot temperatures reaching the 90s, but feel like temperatures approaching 100.
Forecast:
Storms will continue to develop through this evening. There is a 50% chance that any one particular storm could be severe, with damaging winds in excess of 60-70 mph. Large hail is a possibility, with non-stop lightning strikes and really intense downpours that could cause localized flooding.
The storm threat will continue until 10 p.m. tonight. The front will pass, the winds will pick up and change directions, bringing in drier, more bearable air for Friday.
Tomorrow is lovely. Highs in the mid-80s and noticeably less humid. Don't get used to it. By the end of the weekend, into Monday and Tuesday next week, temperatures could reach the triple digits.
