WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
As we approach another busy travel time of the year, for the Christmas holiday season, today would be a good day to hit the roads with dry conditions around and temps slightly below seasonal temps (average high: 41 degrees).
A storm system moves into the region overnight, bringing snow by daybreak for the Hudson Valley, which could make for slick travel conditions Tuesday morning.
Expect snow showers into the midday hours with some areas closer to the city seeing a mix to rain coming in as temps slightly get milder through the day.
Wintry precipitation is likely to wrap up before the evening rush, with breezy winds to move in for Christmas Eve on Wednesday.
Christmas Day will be a dry one with seasonal temps and a mix of sun and clouds to mostly cloudy skies.
The first day of Kwanzaa on Friday may involve rain showers moving in.
Looking ahead to next week, for New Year's Eve, there is a good chance at dry but cold conditions for the Ball Drop at midnight.
