Wind, rain and waves continue to intensify throughout the overnight and into early Monday under a state of emergency for New York City. Main threats continue to be widespread moderate-major coastal flooding and damaging wind with gusts between 30 to 50 mph.
While rain is also a component of the storm and is heavy at times, the flood concerns are mainly coastal and for any areas with poor drainage.
Waves in the Long Island Sound and New York harbor are reaching heights of up to 10 feet. Also, tides are already higher than normal. Coastal flooding will be the worst during high tide. High tides times for The Bronx are around 5:20 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. on Monday.
The worst of this storm continues into the first half of Monday. Rain, wind, and larger than normal waves will last into Tuesday, but there will be slight improvements beginning late Monday.
