ALERTS: Winter Storm Warning for Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Snowfall rates may go as high as 1-2 inches per hour and create low visibility. These bands will put down snow very quickly. Over 6 inches of snow is expected and up to 10 inches is possible. There may be a few areas that go higher. The snow will be light and fluffy and pile up quickly.
FORECAST:
A fast-moving winter storm will impact the tri-state area Friday into early Saturday morning. Travel conditions will deteriorate quickly this evening.
Travel will become difficult and dangerous with very low visibility at times during the late evening through about 2 a.m. That will be the timeframe for the heaviest snow.
The show will lighten up during pre-dawn hours and should taper off around 7 a.m.
Snowfall totals will range from 6 to 10 inches with about 8 to 10 inches falling around Fairfield County.
