NEW: A clipper system will bring some rain and snow starting this evening and into Thursday. Minor snow accumulations and slick conditions could develop by early Thursday for part of Litchfield County.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for some snow that could stick and accumulate. Potentially 2-4 inches are possible, more as you go up in elevation. Areas around the I-84 corridor will be monitored for the snow. South will see some snow and rain at times. Colder surfaces could end up seeing a trace through Fairfield County. Along the Sound, most of this will stay as a cold rain. The winds will pick up too and a Wind Advisory goes up starting at 6 a.m. Winds can gust as high as 45-50 mph at times during the day. These winds could also cause tree damage and power outages. Secure anything outside tonight - including holiday decorations.
NEXT: Blustery and colder weather will develop Friday into Saturday. Temperatures will get even colder. Highs on both days will be in the middle 30s. Wind chills will feel like the 20s on Friday. There will be a gradual warmup by the end of the weekend and into early next week.
THURSDAY: Early rain and snow showers. Gradual clearing and windy. High of 42.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, breezy and colder. High of 36.
SATURDAY: Brisk and cold. High of 38.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, not as cold. High of 47.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy, risk of showers. Warmer. High of 50.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. High of 55.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy, rain. High of 55.
