FORECAST:
A cold front is approaching the area tonight and out ahead of it will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. With the added heat and humidity today, some of the storms may be strong or severe. Some may have damaging wind gusts, so take shelter when they approach. Take any warnings issued by the NWS seriously.
The storms will also have very localized heavy rain. This could lead to some minor flooding, especially on roads for part of Fairfield County.
The storms will weaken more after sunset, but the rain may continue for a time overnight.
Clouds will linger for Wednesday morning and it will also be warm and humid. This cold front doesn't completely clear and ends up washing out over the area. That will keep it cloudy for at time and mild.
Another front moves in for Thursday and it's this one that will usher in drier and somewhat cooler air for Friday.
The humidity will be very comfortable for the Fourth of July. The rest of the weekend will feature more heat and humidity. The risk of rain stays very low until next week.
