After a messy start to the weekend, we also can check off a messy end to the weekend. Cold air is in place as rain is moving in from the west; this sets the stage for some freezing rain between 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. generally north of I-80. Even a light glaze of ice is more than enough to make for slippery roadways. Use caution!
The milder air wins out later tonight into Monday with plain rain showers expected. Watch out for deep puddles as snowpack begins to melt as temperatures rise to near 50.
Black ice is possible later Monday night as temperatures drop back into the upper 20s. It will also turn windy with wind gusts up to 30 to 40 miles per hour, adding a wind chill to the air.
The New Years holiday looks dry and seasonably cold as of now with midnight temperatures in the middle and upper 20s. Stay tuned to News 12 for the latest on the forecast!
