Storm Watch: Flooding possible later today from scattered, slow-moving storms

Slow moving pop-up thunderstorms will be capable of torrential rain this evening, but some parts of the state are at higher risk than others.

ALERT: The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of Litchfield and for most of New Haven and Fairfield counties for this afternoon. Scattered, slow moving evening storms will be capable of producing 2-3 inches of rain in a very short period of time.
The week will not be a washout, but daily showers or storms are possible at any time, particularly in the afternoon. Humidity levels are very high, so any storms that develop will be capable of heavy rain.
FORECAST:
THIS MORNING: Mostly cloudy and humid. A stray shower is possible. Temperatures near 80 degrees, feels like mid-80s by noon.
REST OF TODAY: Scattered downpours are expected after 3 p.m., particularly north and west. Rain totals will exceed 2 inches in some thunderstorms and produce localized flooding. Some spots, especially in New Haven, will stay dry.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy in the morning, then slow-moving thunderstorms return in the afternoon. Flooding possible. Highs in the mid-80s. Feels like 90.
WEDNESDAY: Clouds to start, then some sunshine! A pop-up storm is possible. Highs in the mid- to upper-80s. Feels like 90.
THURSDAY: Very hot and humid. A few storms are expected. Highs near 90. Feels like mid to upper-90s.
FRIDAY: Very hot & humid. A few storms are expected. Highs near 90. Feels like upper-90s.
