STORM WATCH: Biggest travel week of the year, with a few holiday weather headaches to deal with

Another soggy scenario that may help ease the drought situation - or will it? How much do we need to end the drought?

Since the end of last week, the weather pattern has shifted a bit in a positive direction to help with, but not end, the drought situation in New Jersey. We still have a serious situation with our water supply. The Manasquan Reservoir, which has a pretty big role in Monmouth County's water cache, is below 50%. It is at its lowest level since the basins filled in the 1990s. Even with the showers tonight and a decent soaking on Thursday, we still have a long way to go to get our water inventory back in good standing.
Clouds will collect tonight. Some rain will move in for tomorrow’s drive to work or school. If you are traveling this week, keep your airline carrier’s number on speed dial. It’s possible the weather this week may cause some minor mayhem at the airports. The showers for tomorrow morning are a nuisance. Morning lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.
Wednesday looks nice. The calm before the travel storm. There shouldn’t be any weather-related travel issues on our New Jersey roads. Skies will be sunny for most of the day with temperatures cooling a bit to the upper 40s and low 50s. The clouds begin to collect Wednesday night once more. A bigger system is looming on the horizon for Thursday morning.
There is some “fowl” weather on Thursday (See what I did there?) The weather could ruffle some feathers. (Sorry, won’t happen again.) Early morning showers will be present for those early Thanksgiving traditions. Obviously, there will be some travel concerns for those leaving to see family and friends early on. The showers should be on their way out as the turkey is on its way to the dinner table. Winds will pick up and colder air will seep in.
