        Empty storefronts and final sales signs are becoming the norm along Metropolitan Avenue in Parkchester.
        Residents say they’re frustrated and uncertain about why so many businesses are shutting down.
        Some shop owners say rising rent and landlords not renewing leases are the causes of the closures.
        Neighbors tell News 12 they’re now calling for family-oriented restaurants, kids’ activities, and community spaces to fill the void.
        Parkchester Condominiums, which owns some of the retail spaces, has yet to comment on the situation.
