New Jersey drivers are getting a bit of relief at the pump as gas prices continue to edge lower.

GasBuddy says two locations in the state are currently selling regular gasoline for less than $4 a gallon. The Costco in East Hanover and the BJ's in Whippany are both charging $3.99 per gallon.

At the Costco in Edison, regular gas was selling for $4.22 per gallon Wednesday morning. While drivers need memberships to take advantage of those prices, it is a sign that gas costs have come down at least slightly.

Experts say shopping around can make a big difference for drivers looking to save money, as prices can vary significantly from station to station.

One Chatham resident said he drove out of his way to fill up after finding gas for $3.99 instead of $4.34 a gallon, a difference he said was worth the trip.

Others said they continue to shop around for the lowest price available, while many remain frustrated by the overall cost of fuel.

Despite the sub-$4 prices, the statewide average for a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey remains $4.34.

One driver summed up the feeling shared by many motorists. "Still way too high. It's ridiculous. It's insane," said one driver in Boonton.
