Drivers will now face stiffer penalties for the points system in New York.

Under the new rules, your license will be suspended if you accrue 10 points within 24 months.

It used to be 11 points in 18 months.

There are also higher point-values for violations like using your phone while driving , speeding in a construction zone and reckless driving.
