The Stamford Police Department is investigating a serious accident that has left an elderly Stamford resident with possibly life-threatening injuries.
Police tell News 12 Connecticut that the 73-year-old man was hit by a van while crossing Washington Boulevard early Sunday morning is still suffering possibly life threatening injuries.
Police say the victim did not use a crosswalk and was later taken to Stamford Hospital.
Washington Boulevard in Stamford has become a dangerous stretch of roadway for many pedestrians. With several fatalities over the years.
Police say the 2021 Chevy Express van that hit the pedestrian fled the scene. They say the van was later found in a nearby parking lot.
The owner of the van, 24-year-old Jean Viex, of Stamford, admitted he hit something but didn't give any more details. Police tell News 12 that the city is doing everything it can to keep Washington Boulevard safe.
