Stamford police want the people of Stamford to know they feel appreciated.

Assistant Police Chief Silas Redo said the community expresses their support to the department year-round in many ways, including dropping off food and writing letters of appreciation.

Redo says some of the services that the police provide that may not be recognized by people include providing coats and blankets to the homeless, visiting senior citizens and providing sporting and other activities for youth.

He said the police understand the importance of partnerships and relationships they have with the community.
