A Stamford dad is coming to the rescue of parents in a pinch.
Mackadeley Louis has launched
BabyDashNow, an on-demand service, where he shops for and delivers diapers, formula, wipes and other baby needs to local families. The business was born from his own experience as a new dad last year when his son Mackayden, now 1, needed a diaper change late at night.
“When I opened the drawer, I see one diaper left. What?! And it was like 10 p.m.,” Louis shared.
He told News 12 he drove around Stamford for about an hour, but most places were closed, and the one CVS open didn't have his son's size.
“And I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was very stressful for me,” Louis said. “If I live this, I think a lot of parents like me live the same thing. Let me do something.”
Now, he is the go-to parent for other parents while still working full-time. His wife also makes deliveries when he can't. Orders can be placed on the
BabyDashNow website or directly with Louis through his cellphone, which is on the site. Hours are typically 8 a.m.-11 p.m.
“But sometimes I get some emergencies,” Louis added.
Like a recent text at 3 a.m., which he filled to a parent’s surprise.
"'What? You came?!’” Louis recalled the customer saying. “And I said, ‘Yes, that's why BabyDash exists.’”
BabyDashNow services Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and Norwalk, according to Louis. Customers pay for the items and a delivery fee. Louis said it's a cheaper option than services like Instacart. But what he really takes pride in is showing up when it matters.
“I really love it when I help somebody. I really love it when I help parents,” Louis said.
