Several area football teams were victorious this weekend at state championship games.
St. Joseph's High School beat Brookfield in a nailbiter, 21-20 for the CIAC Class M title. Early in the third quarter, the Cadets had 21-point lead, but that did not stop undefeated Brookfield. The Bobcats were able to make up the difference to cut the Cadet's lead to 1 with one-minute left. However, their attempt for a two-point conversion was unsuccessful.
New Canaan won their third straight CIAC Class L Championship title against Darien. Senior quarterback Luke Robinson was 17-24 for a total of 238 yards and three touchdowns. The final score was 35-21.
As for Greenwich, it was clean sweep against West Haven. The Cardinals beat the Blue Devils 14 to 0. The win was Greenwich's 10th state title.
