A St. James man is accused of selling illegal guns to an undercover police officer.
Authorities say Bryan Bennett built and sold a dozen untraceable guns to the undercover officer on three separate occasions between March 2024 and January 2026.
The firearms where sold in exchange for $12,500.
The 36-year-old was in possession of five illegal firearms when Suffolk police arrested him on Feb. 25.
Search warrants executed at two residencies used by Bennett resulted in investigators recovering 10 assault weapons, high-capacity ammunition magazines, a 3-D printer, polymer materials and tools used to assemble the firearms, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
Bennett was arraigned and indicted on Tuesday. He faces numerous charges, including criminal sale of firearms and criminal possession of weapons.
Bennet was ordered held on $1 million cash, $5 million bond or $10 million partially secured bond during the pendency of the case.
He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Bennet is due back in court on May 11.
