The third annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser at Harbor Crab restaurant in Patchogue raised more than $20,000 for childhood cancer research. More than a dozen people got their hair buzzed off, like 25-year-old Christian Henke from Blue Point. “In 2021, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, it was about the size of an apple," said Henke. Henke says after being diagnosed with cancer at 21 years-old, he started the local fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s. This is the third year Harbor Crab held the fundraiser. “We heard Christian’s story three years ago and we wanted to be involved. Since then, it’s gone from raising $17,000, to this year will be over $30,000," said Michele Lamartina, of Harbor Crab. Henke says he had his latest scan three weeks ago and doctors tell him everything looks good. “We’re here for everyone going through that disease and that struggle. We’re here for them and we want them to know that they’re seen and they’re not alone," said Henke. MORE INFORMATION: St. Baldrick’s
