The South Farmingdale Fire Department is taking time out of their holiday to make sure families in need have a happy Thanksgiving.

Firefighters were up early cooking chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables and more holiday classics.

More than 20 firefighters and their families helped make the meals.

They are delivering the food to families this afternoon.

"This is the second year we are doing this. We are partnering with the Farmingdale School District,” said Fire Commissioner Jeff Tasch.

A total of 49 people will be fed today.

Tasch tells News 12 the local Girl Scouts donated food and canned goods too.
