Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano is on Gov. Kathy Hochul's short list for lieutenant governor, sources tell News 12's Senior Political Reporter Tara Rosenblum.
Spano told News 12, "I'm interested. I'm honored to be considered. I would welcome joining a team that would work to replicate some of the tremendous successes we have had in New York’s third largest city."
News 12 is told the governor's short list has no more than four or five names, including Spano.
"Mayor Spano is certainly someone that is qualified and has been a supporter of the governor for a long time. He has all the qualities that are needed for the job and it doesn't surprise me that he is on the short list. In the end, Gov. Hochul is going to have to make the decision as to who she wants for lieutenant governor," said Jay S. Jacobs, chair of the New York State Democratic Committee.
