The NYPD is searching the Bronx River for a missing toddler who was last seen in Hunts Point last month.
Sources say the boy’s father is suspected of throwing the boy into the river.
He was last seen wearing a T-shirt and a diaper.
The child’s mother told News 12 over email that she filed a report right away, but was told by police to wait and go through family court given Montrell was allegedly with his father.
Social media posts dating back to May 13 show the mother raising concerns over the child’s whereabouts. She said the father told her during a confrontation weeks later that he had thrown Montrell into the river.
The child's paternal grandmother told News 12 that she had reportedly been in an argument with her son, Montrell's father, the day the child was last seen.
She says she and other relatives have also pleaded with the child's father for his safe return.
The father is now in custody for questioning, sources close to the investigation say.
Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
