Somerset Patriots unveil ‘Jersey Diners’ rebrand for 3 games, recognizing NJ as diner capital of the world
New Jersey is known for many things, including being the world capital of diners, diner culture and disco fries.
The Somerset Patriots announced they will become the "Jersey Diners" for three games beginning with the 2024 season to celebrate the historic and cultural significance of the diner, from Jerry O’Mahony Diner Company of Elizabeth to the Silk City Diners of Paterson.
The New York Yankees Double-A affiliate team unveiled new "Jersey Diners" jerseys as well as hats for its alternate identity. During the games, the team say fans can expect classic music, blue plate specials at the concessions stands, diner-themed promotions and more to honor the iconic Jersey diners.

“These diners are woven into the fabric of our communities. They are a place to reconnect with old friends, celebrate a school achievement, gather with family in both happy times and sad, or just pass the time when some comfort food and a cup of coffee are what is most needed. They are also a place where new friendships are formed,” the Somerset Patriots’ website says.
Gov. Phil Murphy says the secrets of diner longevity across the state are service and community.
“New Jersey is the spiritual home of the American diner, with more diners than in any other state,” Murphy wrote in a release. “As the most densely populated state, everyone from New Jersey grows up with the diverse culture of diners ingrained as part of life.”
The “Jersey Diners” games will take place on June 8, July 26 and Aug. 11 at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater.
