Thick, black smoke from a fire was visible for miles over Newark Thursday afternoon. Fire crews centered around Port Street to fight the blaze.
The fire was out by 4:15 p.m.
News 12 received photos showing the smoke visible 8 miles to the south, and as far east as Staten Island.
The Newark Fire Department has yet to provide further details on the blaze. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service was also on site, along with Port Authority police and fire.
