The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce kicked off the holiday shopping season with a parade through the village.

The annual parade marched from Northside Elementary School through Main Street.

Small business owners in downtown Farmingdale say when you make your holiday shopping list, check it twice, and make sure to visit small businesses. Officials say shopping small can create jobs, boost the local economy and support your neighbors.

National Small Business Saturday is next weekend but store owners in Farmingdale are encouraging customers to start shopping locally for the holidays now.
