Two major announcements from Six Flags Great Adventure are drawing attention from roller coaster fans and season pass holders.

The park says its popular Holiday in the Park event will not return for the 2025 season.

Also delayed is the debut of a record-breaking roller coaster, originally planned to replace Kingda Ka and open in 2026.

According to a notice sent to pass holders over the weekend, the coaster's launch has now been pushed "beyond 2026."

As part of the update, pass holders will receive one bring-a-friend free ticket for this fall.

“That’s unfortunate, you know? I do like to take my child there. She loves the lights and everything,” said Joe Weintraub, a season pass holder.

“It’s unfair to us. It’s something that we look forward to so that they probably should have told us earlier, you know, but what are you going to do,” he said.

Last summer, Six Flags merged with rival theme-park operator Cedar Fair, becoming the largest owners of amusement parks in North America.

But by November, Kinga Ka closed. And in February, the former tallest and fastest coaster in the world was demolished. The park announced the replacement ride would be another record-breaking launch-style coaster that would be ready in 2026. A park spokesperson said this delay is to ensure the ride meets standards and excellence, and extra time is needed.

Fright Fest will return this fall. However, some of the previous entertainment options from previous years will not be back. Instead, they will be replaced with new and updated experiences, according to the spokesperson. Fright Fest will run until Nov. 2. The park’s closing date for 2025 has not yet been announced.
