With the Super Bowl just a day away, shoppers are heading to grocery stores to stock up on game‑day essentials.
Shoppers in Co‑op City were busy filling their carts ahead of kickoff. For some, the game is the main attraction; for others, the focus is on the food, with wings, fries and chips among the most popular items.
As time runs out to prepare, customers say they are pre‑gaming by picking up must‑haves early. Along with food, many shoppers are also stocking up on drinks for game day and the halftime show.
At Stop & Shop, store officials say they are prepared for the rush, offering deals and keeping shelves stocked to meet demand.
“We’re ready. We’re prepared,” said Daniel Wolke, communications manager for Stop & Shop. “We’re not only going to have the products, but we’re going to give that excellent customer service.”
Shoppers say the preparation is paying off, especially at the checkout lines, where they report shorter waits compared to other stores.
While the winner of the Super Bowl remains uncertain, one thing is clear: those who stopped by the grocery store today say they will be well fed when kickoff arrives.
