Sen. Schumer announces over $3.5M in federal funding to protect nonprofits against rising threats
Sen. Chuck Schumer announced that more than $3.5 million in federal funding was awarded to 14 organizations across Long Island to boost security and safety at synagogues, mosques, churches and other nonprofits.
Schumer says the money will pay for security guards, cameras, fencing and other safety measures.
“With all forms of bigotry on the rise, it has never been more important to make sure that Long Islanders gathering in houses of worship, dropping their kids off at school, and visiting their local JCC or any other faith-based community center are protected from any harm," Schumer said in a statement.
