Police say a Selden woman struck and killed a pedestrian overnight with her car and took off.
It happened early Sunday morning shortly before 1:30 a.m. in Selden.
Police say a driver reported seeing a body and car parts on College Road north of Mooney Pond Road. They say 36-year-old Randolph King, of Selden, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police told News 12 that they arrested 31-year-old Yeymi Sanchez-Guzman, who had damage to her car’s front end and windshield. She is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
A resident told News 12 that they saw police activity early Sunday morning in front of the Fairfield at Selden apartments. People who live in the area say that College Road is notorious for drivers going too fast, as it connects two busy roads, Middle Country Road and Mooney Pond Road.
"People just drive too fast, too aggressively on Long Island in general," said Theresa Maltz, of Selden. "Some of these neighborhoods...they're used as main thoroughfares."
Sanchez-Guzman is expected to see a judge on Monday.
