Over 1,000 runners took part Saturday morning in the 12th annual Seaside Semper Five.
The run benefits the Marine Raider Foundation, which helps families of wounded or fallen Marine special operators.
Participants could opt for a one-mile fun run or the traditional 5K event. Runners finished the 3.1-mile race under brilliant sunshine on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. Much of the course is lined with American flags.
Many runners return to this race year after year, citing its patriotic theme.
Through the years the race has expanded virtually with runners completing a 5K at U.S embassies and military bases around the world.
News 12 has been a proud sponsor of the race since its inception.
