UPDATE: The Seaside Heights Borough Council unanimously voted to pass the boardwalk ordinance. Stay tuned for updates on News 12 New Jersey.
Original story below:
A vote in Seaside Heights is set for tonight on new rules for the boardwalk following a chaotic Memorial Day weekend.
The proposed changes include closing the boardwalk at midnight Monday through Thursday and at 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Backpacks would also be banned from the boardwalk.
Fines would increase for those who rent properties without a certificate of occupancy or a rental license.
These changes would build on an existing curfew that bars teens from the boardwalk without an adult after 10 p.m., officials said.
