A Seaford man has been indicted on first-degree murder charges for stabbing his parents to death in December at their family-owned deli in Bethpage.
Vito Dambrosio, 30, was arraigned Tuesday on grand jury indictment charges of murder in the first degree and two counts of murder in the second degree.
According to prosecutors, Dambrosio attacked his mother and father Angela Pulisciano, 62, and Antonio Dambrosio, 70, stabbing them each with a 14-inch chef’s knife.
The incident happened on Dec. 4 inside A & A Deli and Pizza on Hicksville Road. Police say Dambrosio entered the store while customers were inside.
Prosecutors provided new details into the stabbings, saying that Dambrosio "entered the store while customers were inside." They say Pulisciano "was stabbed in the throat, which severed her trachea and carotid artery" and was found "behind the store’s counter." She was pronounced dead at the scene. Antonio Dambrosio was also "stabbed in the carotid artery in the kitchen" and was then "allegedly dragged into the counter area where he was found by police." He later died at Nassau University Medical Center. Prosecutors say the knife was left at the scene on a food prep counter. They say Vito Dambrosio "called 911 to report his alleged attack and waited near his car, parked in front of the store, for police to arrive. The defendant’s hands and clothes were covered in his and his parents’ blood when he was taken into custody."
Dambrosio allegedly told a 911 operator that he killed his mother and father, stating, "I stabbed them both in the throat."
The prosecutor said he confessed again to police minutes after the 911 call.
He allegedly told police, "All that they did to me is on TikTok; I thought the Lord was talking and I snapped; After everything I gave to them, after everything I did for them, they kicked me out..."
Later that day, he allegedly told a detective that he deserved to go to jail and said he deserved "life sentences." He allegedly told the detective, "They didn't deserve this."
Dambrosio pleaded not guilty and was remanded. He is due back in court on Jan. 30. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison without parole.
“Angela and Antonio were simply helping customers at the deli they owned and operated for more than 30 years when they were viciously attacked and stabbed in broad daylight, allegedly by their own son,” said Nassau District Attorney Anne Donnelly in prepared remarks. “Vito Dambrosio had been kicked out of his house and living in his car since his release from jail for another pending criminal matter. He had nowhere to live and nowhere to work, and his simmering anger finally boiled over into the alleged murder of these beloved business owners.”
