The Nostalgic Sheepshead Bay restaurant Lundy's is back after being closed - and on a new waterfront.
The new Lundy's opened around a week ago in Red Hook.
The original Lundy's in Sheepshead Bay was known for serving piles of biscuits and seafoods. The owners tell News 12 sometimes they could serve 10,000 customers in one day.
For the new owner Sandra Snyder and her husband, the original Lundy's holds memories.
“We met in 2002 on his doorstep, and I believe our second date was at Lundy's. And it was, you know, it was the newer version. And he brought me there and we had clams and oysters and the whole thing and that was where it all started," said Snyder.
Snyder's Lundy's story is just one of many for Brooklyn residents. She wanted to carry on the restaurant's legacy.
She says the restaurant sources a majority of their seafood locally. But she says the secret ingredient is a traditional, simplistic style of dining.
“Everybody really pushes the envelope, and sometimes you just want to walk into a place where it's very homey and comforting and you know what you're getting. The old school dining experience, it's very simple, almost became a lost art. We want to bring that back," said Snyder.
People in the area like Christopher Nicolson say he's excited to have a blast from the past right here in his neighborhood.
