Community advocates, city leaders and state legislators joined together on 23rd Ave and Bath Avenue, to speak out about the killing of 11-year-old Amira Aminova.
The 11-year-old girl was hit and killed by a school bus on Feb. 6, as she crossed the street to get home.
Her memorial continues to grow.
Aminova was a student at I.S. 281, just a few blocks away from where she was struck and killed.
Police say the driver of that school bus, a 62-year-old man, drove away without stopping. He told police he had no idea he hit someone.
The driver has been charged with failure to yield and to exercise due care.
Advocates with Safe Streets say this is the 130th child killed since Vision Zero began in NYC in 2014 and the 28th child killed walking to or from school.
While officials are calling for a new comprehensive traffic study of Bath Avenue, others say that won’t be enough.
