Financial help is coming to help patients who travel to Connecticut from other states to get an abortion.
A new "Safe Harbor Fund" will open July 1 to help people receive medical care.
State officials say it is privately funded and will help remove any financial barriers for people seeking reproductive or gender-affirming healthcare available in the state.
The fund currently has only
$25,000.
"We do have some other conversations that we're having around funds that could be coming in. Some of this is that we don't know exactly what the need or demand is going to be yet," says state Treasurer Erik Russell.
Organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, can apply to receive funding.
