Models walked the runway at ‘A Very Brooklyn Fashion Show’ in Industry City, hosted by BK Style Foundation founder Rick Davy. The styles featured personal collections from designer that were exclusively Brooklyn born or made.
“People work in the industry in Brooklyn and the idea is to promote Brooklyn artists,” said Adeleke Sijuwade, a fashion designer for El Collection.
Organizers say they chose to host the show Industry City across from the Brooklyn Made storefront, which is run by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, to kick off a ‘first-of-its-kind’ event.
Styles consisted of bright colors, patterns, and the street style clothing, ranging from petite to plus sizes.
“All of my muses come in all different shapes and sizes,” Virginia Cathey, fashion designer of the Virginia Cathey Collections said she wanted to make clothes any body type would feel comfortable wearing , “The shapes just jump out at me.”
